GENERAL
A NOTAM will be published containing details regarding the airshow display. Fly-in aircraft are encouraged to arrive well before the start time to ensure they are not turned away.
Ground marshallers will be on station to assist ground movements on Saturday before and after the airshow. If you arrive before Saturday, follow the guidance below and park in designated area.
FLY-IN REGISTRATION
Registration is required for this event as space is limited and spots will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
BEVERLEY AERODROME
Please check ERSA for the most current aerodrome details.

The main operational runway is 16/34 (gravel) approx. 1460m. A thin sealed section exists on the western side of the 16/34 strip. However, only use this for your takeoff to reduce dust.
- To avoid overflying the town, runway 34 is a right hand circuit with runway 16 being a left hand circuit.
- Airfield AMSL is 700 feet whilst circuit minimum height is 1,700 feet.
- Runway 08/26 will be closed and used for visitor car parking, display aircraft parking, etc and will have the public crossing it.
- Use full width of the gravel strip for landings, do not aim to land on the thin sealed strip.
- Aim to land on the coloured circles.
- Animal hazards such as birds exist and moderate turbulence can be expected on the southern half of 16/34 due to the tree line on the western side (especially for landings on 34 with a westerly).
- Windsocks are located to the north east of the intersecting runways.

The aerodrome as depicted on the WAC is shown below for reference only:

The aerodrome as seen from Google Earth is below with a suggested midfield crosswind circuit join. Maintain 1700″ AMSL at the join point as you will be overflying the crowd.

Airfield layout with aircraft parking. Runway edge is graded, gravel and solid for taxing on. A taxiway has been created (white dotted line) between runway 16/34 and the eastern fence which is to be used for taxing back. With a large fly in crowd expected, do not backtrack on the runway unless no other option exists.

Closest aerodromes – Whitegum Valley (YWGM) approx. 359°/15nm and Northam (YNTM) approx. 336°/33nm
FREQUENCIES
CTAF/UNICOM – 126.85
Ground – 122.70
Melbourne Centre – 120.30
HAZARDS
The town of Beverley is directly to the north. Please fly neighbourly and limit overflying.
There are elevated power lines along the road approx. 400m to the north of the 16 threshold.
WEATHER
Webcams are available at https://www.beverley-soaring.org.au/webcams/ and unofficial weather at https://weather.beverley-soaring.org.au/.
The Cunderdin TAF/METAR and Jandakot TAF/METAR are available from BOM/NAIPS. Windsocks are located as per the airstrip guides, NE of runway intersection.
First Light – Last Light
- Sunrise: 22:05 UTC (6:05 AM WST)
- Sunset: 10:21 UTC (18:21 PM WST)
INBOUND TO BEVERLEY
Pilots are responsible for their own navigation and separation as it is an uncontrolled airfield. Ground crew will be on hand to provide information and observations. Please make brief and clear legible radio calls.
There will be a large number of aircraft movements, so keep a vigilant look out and fly correct circuit procedures. We anticipate a large number of aircraft with varying airspeeds. Stay alert and maintain a good look out. If in any doubt, give way.
Expect delays inbound, not only because of the volume of arrivals but because there may be aerobatics taking place if you are late, in which case we ask you to remain clear of the circuit (preferably to the west) until that pilot has finished their aerobatics and the airboss gives an all clear.
It is suggested to join midfield cross wind for runways 16/34 (circuits to the eastern side of the strip), especially when approaching from the west. Remember to fly no lower than the minimum height of 1700ft AMSL (1000ft AGL) over 08/26 as this is where the public will be gathering.
Much more importantly, please keep your eyes peeled at all times. Radios do fail and some aircraft still don’t have one as its not required at YBEV.
If there is an incident, the runway may be closed for an indefinite period.
Possible diversions
- Cunderdin (YCUN) @ 025°/33nm
- Whitegum Valley (YWGM) @ 359°/15nm
- Northam (YNTM) @ 336°/33nm
- Narrogin (YNRG) @ 173°/49nm
ARRIVING AT BEVERLEY
Aircraft are expected to arrive by 10:00am (local) to ensure the airshow can start on time. On arriving into the circuit, follow the guidance of others and other aircraft.
Please make appropriate calls on the CTAF frequency 126.85. Try not to overload this frequency, only make the circuit calls for best awareness. Concise calls at ten miles inbound, joining the circuit, and final are recommended. Pilots are responsible for their own navigation at all times.
The runway strip has been graded all the way to the eastern fence and a taxiway has been created for backtracking along the fence.
- On landing, stay on 126.85 so that if you use the taxiway along the eastern fence (non-crowd side), you can make appropriate calls (e.g. “XYZ crossing runway 16”) that will be heard by departing/arriving aircraft.
- After exiting to the western side of the runway (crowd side), switch to the airshow ground frequency of 122.70.
Whilst a lot of work has been done to grade and level the whole airfield surface in preparation for the airshow, it is dirt and not perfectly flat. Be mindful of the capabilities of your aircraft on the uneven surfaces when taxing.
Arrival times:
- Friday 10th April: 0800 – 1700 local
- Saturday 11th April: 0700 – 1030 local only
Special Runway Procedures – RWY 34 / RWY 16
- RWY 16 Landings:
- For the safety of spectators, RWY 16 threshold will be displaced by 460m.
- The displaced threshold will be clearly marked with a coloured dot on the runway surface.
- All landings on RWY 16 to be made on this marked landing dot.
- This reduces the available landing distance on RWY 16 to 1,000 m.
- Landing 16, roll through to end of runway and exit right to parking area.
- RWY 34 Landings:
- Pilots are requested to land short on RWY 34.
- The aim is to ensure that aircraft are slowed to a safe taxiing speed before reaching the designated spectator enclosure adjacent to the runway.
- Plan approaches with extra care to maintain stabilised landings and safe rollout distances.
- Landing 34, roll through to end of runway and exit left to parking area.
BACKTRACKING
Do not backtrack on the runway unless no other option exists. A new taxiway has been graded parallel to 16/34. Enter at any point along the runway to taxi back and exit in the undershoot area. Always make sure it is clear to cross and make a radio call. Be aware of the drains marked with witches hats between 16/34 and the new taxiway (mostly at the northern end).

AIRCRAFT PARKING
Parking will be at the northern or southern end of Runway 16/34. Arriving aircraft are to:
- Land following the circuit direction of other aircraft already in the circuit,
- Roll through,
- Taxi off towards the end of the landing runway and
- Follow the ground crew who will direct you where to park.
- Pilots are responsible for their own navigation at all times.
Parking will be in an area up against the access road, perpendicular to the runway, tail as far back as possible. The ground to the side of the runway has been graded and is hard all the way along to taxi on (just keep it to a minimum for dust).
Pilots are asked to follow the directions of ground controllers who will guide them directly into their parking space.

Volunteer marshalling will guide arrivals on the ground from 0700. Brush up on your hand signals and please follow the marshallers directions when maneuvering on the ground for parking or departures.
Parking is not available at or in private hangars as crowds will be standing in front of them
Runway 08/26 CLOSED as the public will be allowed on this runway.
DEPARTING BEVERLEY
When starting, be mindful of prop wash so that it does not go over the crowd or other aircraft. Please make clear legible radio calls. There will be a large number of aircraft movements, so keep a vigilant look out and fly correct circuit procedures.
If executing run-ups while in the queue, please be aware of your prop wash and as a courtesy to those behind you, if possible, turn aircraft 45 degrees to the RWY centreline. Avoid runup on unsealed surfaces.
Due to many airshow performances occurring throughout the day, Fly-In aircraft will only be able to depart at the conclusion of the airshow. Last light at 10:21 UTC (18:21 PM WST). Pilots are responsible for their own navigation at all times.
Departure times:
- Saturday 11th April: From 1500 local onwards
- Sunday 12th March: From 0700 local onwards
FUEL
AVGAS will be available for purchase from a refueling truck that will be on the airfield for the day. The fixed base fuel supplies at YBEV are the property of the Beverley Soaring Society but can’t be sold to the public.
JET-A1 is not available.
AIRCRAFT SECURITY
Many of the people who will be visiting the airfield on the day know little or nothing about aircraft and their vulnerability and fragility. Be sure your aircraft is secure if you’re leaving it unattended and please make a careful pre-flight inspection before departing. Ensure throttle locks are in place.
AIRMANSHIP
Whilst this is a public air show, it’s not the place to perform unplanned aerobatics. Please respect the airspace and those using it.
Please be mindful of what’s behind and around you when starting engines and conducting run ups.
If you need to push your aircraft or manoeuvre out a of a tight space please use wing walkers or some of our volunteer marshals.
Please fly neighbourly, having our aerodrome located so close to the town is a privilege and we need to respect our neighbours by minimising noise disruption.
HUMAN FACTORS
Be aware of your own limitations and the fatiguing effect of making several flights in one day. It can be very hot and dry at Beverley so remember to stay hydrated, nourished and keep your blood sugar levels high. There are water fountains located outside the club house toilets.
Please stop flying as soon as you find yourself making even small mistakes. Make good decisions. Stop and have a chat instead.
EMERGENCY RESPONSE
Report Emergencies through to 000, 126.85, 122.70 and Adam Rowe (adam_rowe@msn.com) who will liaise with designated Incident Controller.
Declare MAYDAY on CTAF 126.85, Inbound ATC 120.3.
Fire Extinguishers will be located at the southern end of the 16 parking area and the northern end of the 34 parking area.
First Aid stations are located to the north (BSS maintenance hangar) and south of the intersecting runways.

REFRESHMENTS
Many food and drinks trucks will be available to purchase from on the day.
ACCOMODATION
No onsite camping but some nearby accommodation options might be available.
